Identify which stand-alone assessment tool fits best
Each of the identified existing assessment tools in this toolbox has a specific procurement area that it focuses on. Review the tools and determine which one best addresses the need(s) identified.
As noted throughout this site, there are several existing stand-alone assessment tools that already look at assessing part of the procurement process. The type of assessment that is considered within the scope of this toolbox aims at assessing the functionality and performance of a procurement system for vaccines and immunization devices, using global indicators that reflect good practices in the respective functions, to identify strengths and gaps that can form the basis for developing plans to strengthen the system. The scope and depth of an assessment needs to balance the desired outcome with the resources available to conduct the assessment, as well as taking into account the feasibility of taking action on any gaps identified during the assessment.
Depending on the outcome from the adapted use of the UNICEF SCMM, the user will then be able to identify which stand-alone tool would best meet their needs to dive deeper into the root causes of the identified bottlenecks. The user would then complete the more in-depth assessment, as per the tool’s procedures.
