The UNICEF International Council announce new Chair Tina Srowig
Leading a unique community of philanthropists driving impact at scale for children
GENEVA, 26 March 2025 – UNICEF welcomed today Tina Srowig as the new Chair of the UNICEF International Council, a community of philanthropists committed to driving collective impact for children through strategic investment and influence, catalytic solutions and targeted advocacy.
The UNICEF International Council has more than 160 members from 22 countries who have collectively invested US$605 million in children’s futures with UNICEF through their philanthropy. Many of its members hail from the world’s leading business families and global influencers. Srowig assumes the position following the end of inaugural Chair Maria Ahlström-Bondestam’s term.
“We are delighted to welcome Tina as Chair of the UNICEF International Council where she will help shape the potential of this philanthropic community to solve some of the most pressing challenges facing children during a time of unprecedented crises putting their lives and futures at stake,” said UNICEF Director of Private Fundraising and Partnerships, Carla Haddad Mardini.
Since joining the Council in 2019, Srowig has played a pivotal role in shaping the Council’s advocacy and communication, drawing on her background as a journalist and broadcaster. She has also been instrumental in bringing on board new members to join the community.
“As a passionate advocate for the rights of children, and in particular girls, to quality education, protection and equal opportunities, I look forward to enhancing the Council’s collective efforts to create lasting and sustainable change for children through impact at scale, increased efficiencies and building authentic relationships,” said Tina Srowig.
A German national, Srowig is passionate about promoting justice and equality worldwide and is the co-founder of a media consultancy focusing on women's issues.
“I also want to thank Maria for her incredible leadership and for stopping at nothing when it comes to supporting children. During her tenure over the past four years, the number of Council members has almost doubled, and a massive impact for children has been achieved through their collective investment and influence,” added Haddad Mardini.
