Digital transformation

Delivering on digital for children

A VHT from Nakifuma HCIII explains to a UNICEF staff about the operation of the mobile application while going about the registration of vaccinated children in the Mukono area.

Digital transformation has many guises. It’s a way of modifying existing operations. It’s the means of creating new ways of working. It’s a continuum rather than simply an end goal.

For UNICEF, digital transformation isn’t just about what we do. It’s also about how we do it. From how we run our organization to how we support our teams. Because our approach to digital transformation also must be driven by meeting the needs of rights holders, it covers everything from education to health and child protection to communications.

One of the core pillars of the UNICEF Strategic Plan, 2022-2025 is our Digital Transformation Change Strategy, which sets out a clear programme of work for UNICEF under four Focus Areas:

  • Management Efficiency and Effectiveness
  • Partnerships, Communication and Resource Mobilization
  • Digital in Programmes and Programme Effectiveness
  • Normative and Policy

In essence, UNICEF's digital transformation is a holistic endeavor that permeates every aspect of our work, ensuring we are more efficient, effective, and responsive to the needs of children and their communities. By embracing this change, we are better equipped to fulfill our mission and drive impactful, sustainable development worldwide for every child.
