Girls and technology
We harness technology for gender equality, to ensure digital for, with, and by girls.
Digital technology is essential to children’s and young people’s development, providing access to education, health information, creative expression, peer connection, and career opportunities.
However, a gender digital divide exists, with girls having less access to and use of technology than boys, limiting their benefits. Digital products and services are often designed for a "default" user, typically male, overlooking girls' digital realities like connectivity, device access, and digital literacy. Not designing with and for girls, including girls with disabilities, means that female user numbers are often very low, and girls risk being left behind in the digital world.
Girls and Tech harnesses tech for gender equality, to ensure digital for, with, and by girls.
Areas of focus include the gender digital divide for girls, digital literacy and gender, digital solutions for and with girls, AI and gender, digital inclusion for girls with disabilities, privacy and data protection and online safety.
