Child safety online

Every child must be protected from violence, exploitation and abuse on the internet.

Digital technologies have the potential to offer children incredible opportunities. At the same time, there are serious risks that need mitigation. UNICEF is working globally to protect children from all forms of violence and exploitation, including those associated with digital technologies. Across all regions, UNICEF works to advance legal and policy reforms that align with international human rights standards and protect children from recognized and emerging risks of violence in the digital environment. UNICEF also supports the professional development of frontline workers and policymakers – including those in social services, health, education, and law enforcement – enabling them to better prevent and respond to child protection threats in the digital age.

UNICEF supports educational and other initiatives that empower children, parents and communities with essential skills and knowledge. Explore more about how we support parents through educational initiatives and practical resources at UNICEF Parenting

We also promote responsible business conduct and develop practical tools such as those to support child rights impact assessments and due diligence.
