Building a brighter future for young people

Amid the shifting job market needs brought about by global trends like automation, population aging, migration, and climate change, it is essential for young people, particularly marginalized individuals, to have the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle the challenges of the rapidly changing 21st century job market and succeed in an increasingly complex world. In Thailand, over 1.4 million 15-24-year-olds are not participating in employment, education, or training (NEET). Despite this, they are a crucial source of human capital as Thailand transitions into an aged society.

UNICEF works in collaboration with partners to develop a package of policies and services that targets NEETs and other vulnerable young people and builds skills and knowledge through training and learning opportunities, for instance providing them with foundational and transferable skills, as well as technical, and vocational skills, through more flexible pathways from school to work and through second chance programmes, internships, apprenticeships, and career guidance.
UNICEF also strives to work collaboratively with government and private sector partners to strengthen public-private partnerships for skills development and employability in order to address existing mismatches between labour supply and demand.
This page contains learning resources, publications, and tools designed to inform policies and programmes that promote youth employability and build future-ready citizens.
