Compensation & Benefits
- Attractive Remuneration Packages: UNICEF provides a highly competitive salary structure that aligns with United Nations-wide salary scales, ensuring fair compensation for all staff categories, including International Professional (IP), National Officer (NO), and General Service (GS) staff.
- Retirement Pension: A staff member with an appointment of six months or more, or who completes six months of uninterrupted service, will be enrolled in the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). A compulsory contribution will be deducted from your monthly salary.
- Family Allowances: Depending on your contract type, you may be eligible for dependency allowances and, under certain conditions, an education grant for school-aged children.
Health & Wellbeing
- Health Insurance: Staff are eligible to participate in one of the United Nations-sponsored medical insurance plans, which include dental insurance. The monthly premiums are co-shared by yourself and the Organization.
- Wellbeing Programmes: Our staff well-being programmes prioritize the psychosocial health of all staff. Staff Counsellors and Peer Support Volunteers, trained in active listening, are available to offer support. Additionally, UNICEF offers online resources, including booklets on key well-being topics and free access to Headspace, an award-winning mindfulness meditation app.
- Flexible Working: UNICEF offers flexible working arrangements and teleworking options, enabling staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This approach fosters well-being and job satisfaction, leading to increased productivity and retention.
- Family Support: In addition to family allowances, we offer initiatives to support the career development and job search efforts of spouses of International Professional (IP) staff.
Holidays & Leave
- Holidays and Leave: Staff are entitled to 18–30 days of annual leave, depending on their contract. Additionally, the United Nations observes 10 paid holidays each year. International Professionals (IPs) may also qualify for home leave travel to reconnect with their social, cultural, and family ties in their home country.
- Parental Leave: Parental leave entitlements are available to all staff members, regardless of gender, sex, or the way they become parents. This includes mothers, fathers, and those who welcome a child through surrogacy or adoption.
