Highlights
This joint research study by UNHCR and UNICEF examines the experiences of stateless children and youth in Thailand in accessing educational services, comparing their opportunities with those of Thai children and among different stateless groups (ID numbers 7, 0, and G-code).
The report finds overall improvements in access but highlights persistent systemic issues, including a lack of coherence between security and education policies, persistent practitioner-level misunderstandings, and socioeconomic barriers. Key challenges remain in early childhood education, providing quality education in remote schools, high dropout rates in secondary education, and the ineligibility of stateless youth for the Student Loan Fund.
The study concludes that children with the G-Code face the most significant limitations in legal status development and educational continuity.
