UNICEF Thailand would like to clarify false information currently circulating on social media regarding the "Fix My Food" campaign and an event held in Bangkok in February 2023.

UNICEF Thailand was not part of the “Fix my Food” campaign. There were no Thai youth participants or Thai chefs involved, and the event was not about Thailand or Thai cuisine. No Thai dishes were prepared during the event. The programme did not involve evaluating, criticizing or comparing Thai cuisine in any way.

The event in question was organized by UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO), which has an office in Bangkok and supports UNICEF's work across 27 countries in East Asia and the Pacific. Bangkok served as the venue because it is the location of the Regional Office.

The purpose of the event was to bring together young people from eight participating countries - including China, Cambodia, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Mongolia, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam - to discuss food environments in their own countries and co-create the regional "Fix My Food" campaign. The campaign aimed at promoting healthier food environments for children and young people amid increasing consumption of highly processed junk food and drinks full of sugar, salt and unhealthy fats.

During the last day of the workshop, participants from eight countries prepared their favorite dishes from their own childhoods. Chef Ros Rotanak (Chef Nak) from Cambodia and Ms. Luong Thuy Linh, Miss Vietnam 2019, participated as invited guests to engage with the young participants and discuss the dishes young people prepared, nutrition and healthy eating.

UNICEF Thailand remains committed to improving children's nutrition in Thailand. In 2025, UNICEF Thailand launched the "กินไรดี (Kin Rai Dee)" campaign together with Thai chefs, health experts, young people and partners to promote healthier food choices for children and advocate for healthier food environments in Thailand.

UNICEF Thailand has worked in partnership with the Royal Thai Government and partners for more than 75 years to improve the lives of children in Thailand. We respect Thai culture, values and local communities. Donations made to UNICEF Thailand are used first to support programmes benefiting children in Thailand. When needed, they may also help children facing the greatest hardships, crises, and emergencies around the world.

We thank everyone for their continued support of children.
