Highlights

The Global Annual Results Report 2025 on Goal Area 3 of the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2022–2025 presents results on the child protection programme, policy and advocacy efforts supported by UNICEF and its partners around the world to protect and fulfil every child's right to live free from violence, exploitation, abuse, neglect and harmful practices. This programme covers three result areas: 1) Protection from violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect; 2) Promotion of care, mental health and psychosocial well-being and justice for children; and 3) Prevention of harmful practices.

Child protection is a right enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and underpins progress across the Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 5.3 on eliminating harmful practices, SDG 8.7 on ending child labour, and SDG 16.2 on ending abuse, exploitation, trafficking and violence against children. In 2025, UNICEF achieved significant progress across Goal Area 3 result areas, at output level averaging 97 per cent for Results Area 1, 88 per cent for Results Area 2 and 45 per cent for Results Area 3.
