Gender-Transformative Approaches and Promising Practices in Health, Nutrition and HIV Programming
Learning through empirical evidence in Africa to support UNICEF in its broader objective to develop gender-transformative theories of change and to scale up models that address gender barriers in both the short-term and long-term.

Highlights
UNICEF Regional Offices in Eastern and Southern Africa and in Western and Central Africa jointly commissioned an assessment of Gender-transformative approaches and promising practices in Health, Nutrition, and HIV programming in Africa. As UNICEF adopted its new Gender Action Plan (2022-2025), this study is promoting learning through empirical evidence to support UNICEF in its broader objective to develop gender-transformative theories of change and to scale up models that address gender barriers in both the short-term and long-term.
The research was led by UNIVERSALIA and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, 2gether4SRHR, and UNICEF.
