IFANCA (Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America) and UNICEF together support the equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine and work to combat vaccine hesitancy

COVID-19 pandemic

In June 2021, IFANCA committed $3 million to support UNICEF’s global work with the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator and the vaccines arm of the ACT Accelerator called the COVAX facility. IFANCA’s support contributes to UNICEF’s historic efforts in leading the procurement and supply of 1.4 billion COVID-19 vaccines to around 196 participating COVAX countries and economies by the end of 2022.

IFANCA is also supporting UNICEF’s ongoing work in COVID-19 response and recovery efforts. Through this strategic commitment, IFANCA is supporting UNICEF’s work with the World Health Organization (WHO), partners and communities in addressing misinformation and building trust in vaccines and in the health systems that deliver lifesaving vaccines through the ACT-Accelerator.

Thanks to the support from IFANCA, UNICEF will help reimagine and develop a world that is a safe and more equitable place for communities and children everywhere.

“As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in many regions around the world, partnerships like this are crucial in the race to end the global pandemic. IFANCA’s generous support can also allow us and our partners on the ground to bring reliable vaccine information to parents, caregivers and educators based on facts and science.” – Former UNICEF Deputy Executive Director for Partnerships, Charlotte Petri-Gornitzka.
