Global monitoring is a key pillar of UNICEF’s work to realize the right of children and women to good nutrition

NutriDash is UNICEF’s global monitoring system for maternal and child nutrition, that hosts the largest global database of national programmes for maternal and child nutrition. It is an online interactive platform that captures, stores, analyzes and visualizes nutrition programme data and performance of over 125 countries, providing country, regional and global trend analysis.

NutriDash outlines global progress on the coverage of key interventions to prevent and treat malnutrition. It allows decision-makers to track the performance of nutrition programmes to accelerate action informing progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) nutrition targets for children and women.

NutriDash is used at global, regional and country levels to:

Inform decision-making by monitoring progress against targets, identifying bottlenecks, and prioritizing actions to accelerate progress, tracking changes and patterns over time.
Strengthen accountability by tracking countries’ progress towards global nutrition targets and making global, regional and country level data accessible to all stakeholders.
Strengthen national nutrition information systems by supporting countries to track nutrition data routinely and improving timeliness and quality.
Build positive political will using evidence-based advocacy to spark dialogue with governments and partners and harness political commitment and investment.
Support supply forecasting to ensure that life-saving nutrition commodities reach children and women in need in a timely manner.

What information does NutriDash collect?

NutriDash is aligned with the UNICEF Nutrition Strategy 2020–2030 and collects national-level data on the following key nutrition result areas:

Early childhood nutrition
Nutrition of school-age children and adolescents
Maternal nutrition
Nutrition care for children with wasting
Maternal and child nutrition in humanitarian action
Partnerships and governance for nutrition

NutriDash is committed and consistently working with regions and offices to:

Enhance the quality of programme data; The NutriDash team develops tools, guidance, and works very closely with regional and country offices to conduct rigorous data quality reviews. The quality of data is continuously improving and remains a key priority
Strengthen the capacities of national information systems — The NutriDash reporting process provides an avenue for UNICEF and partners at all levels to collaborate in identifying the gaps, opportunities and resources needed to strengthen national nutrition information systems.
Leverage innovation and technology — The NutriDash system leverages UNICEF’s existing IT structure, while embracing innovative practices and system enhancements to strengthen the efficiency of data management processes.
Adapt and report on the changing realities of malnutrition globally — NutriDash strives to capture data on the systems, policies, and programmes that are critical to informing global and national responses to the triple burden of malnutrition, and other areas where data are limited.
