Highlights

What happens when adolescents and young people sit together with government, the private sector, educators, development partners and local stakeholders to talk about their futures?

Following the Asha: Dreams in Motion screenings and dialogues held across Nepal under the EU-UNICEF education partnership, this report brings together the key insights, concerns and recommendations that emerged from these discussions. Participants explored how Nepal can better connect education, skills development and employment opportunities to ensure that adolescents and young people are better prepared for a rapidly changing world of work.

The dialogues highlighted strong interest among young people in digital skills, entrepreneurship, creative industries, green jobs and technology-related careers, while also revealing barriers such as limited practical learning opportunities, weak career guidance, unequal access to skills training and a disconnect between what young people aspire to do and what current education and skill pathways offer.

The report also captures the perspectives of employers and local stakeholders and outlines practical priorities for strengthening public–private partnerships, work-based learning, Community Learning Centres (CLCs) and alternative learning pathways (ALPs), career guidance, and investments in foundational, digital and employability skills.

Together, these findings point toward a shared goal: ensuring that every young person in Nepal has a stronger pathway from learning to earning and the support needed to turn their aspirations into meaningful opportunities.
