Rapale, Nampula - Six young people from Espaço da Malta took part in a practical lesson on information technology and hardware.
The participants, aged 19 to 24, learned about basic computer components and how computers work.
The activity was promoted by Peer Educator Leaders as part of the project Adolescents and Young People Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Early Unions, implemented by ASCHA with technical and financial support from UNICEF.
The lesson helped participants strengthen their digital skills and expand their opportunities for personal and professional development.
“Learning computer skills has changed the way I see my future. What began as my first introduction to technology has become a passion. Now I know that with knowledge, determination and continued learning, I can create opportunities for myself and contribute to my community,” said Edmilson Ernesto, 19.
As a next step, a mixed learning group is planned, bringing together boys from Espaço da Malta and girls from Espaço Seguro Fala Minha Irmã. The aim is to expand access to computer training and promote digital inclusion in the community.
Espaço da Malta is supported through the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to End Child Marriage, which is generously funded by the Governments of Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom, as well as Zonta International.
Launched in 2016, the programme works in 12 high-prevalence or high-burden countries, including Mozambique, to promote the rights of adolescent girls and accelerate action to end child marriage.
