UNICEF impact evaluation
Evaluation plays a key role in delivering feedback on results through impartial and credible assessment of what works, what does not, and why. The Evaluation of Impact scope is to assess development effectiveness of UNICEF programmes.
The Strategy outlines UNICEF’s long-term vision for a more harmonized and strategic approach to evaluating impact. It defines key operational definitions, identifies challenges, and introduces three strategic pillars each with targeted actions to address those challenges. The document also details UNICEF’s approaches to methodologies and processes, while highlighting partnerships and resources needed to support implementation.
Designed as a practical reference, the Strategy supports regional and country offices, as well as evaluation and programme staff, in using robust evidence to inform national plans and child-focused policies. It presents basic technical concepts in an accessible format aiming to spark further inquiry and strengthen evaluative practice across the organization.
