Evaluation capacity development
UNICEF expertise for evaluation evidence on what works for children.
At UNICEF, we are convinced that credible evidence is at the core of achieving the best results for children. By systematically evaluating our initiatives, we can identify what works, what doesn't, and why. This knowledge enables us to refine our strategies, optimize resource allocation, and ultimately achieve better outcomes for children. Our 2023 Revised Evaluation Policy highlights our commitment to continuously strengthen the evaluation capacities of our staff as well as our partners.
By working closely with governments, public administration training centers, universities, evaluation associations, and other key stakeholders, we aim to foster a culture of evaluation and promote evidence-based decision-making that directly benefits children. This collaborative approach ensures that our programmes are effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of those we serve.
Reputable training institutions support us in equipping technical staff and senior government officials with the necessary hard and soft skills to produce high-quality evaluations and use their findings to inform policies that drive sustainable development.
Our collective efforts in evaluation not only enhance accountability and transparency but also ensure that we are on the right path to achieving the SDGs and making a lasting difference in the lives of children around the world.
