The Executive Director ensures organization-wide compliance with UNICEF’s evaluation policy while safeguarding the integrity and independence of the Evaluation Function. This includes securing adequate resources and capacity for evaluation and ensuring that senior management engage with and utilize evaluation results.

The Executive Board plays a central governance role by approving the revised evaluation policy (2023) and its corrigendum.  It also endorses the multi-year work programme and budget for global evaluations, aligned with the UNICEF Strategic Plan, 2026–2029 (E/ICEF/2025/29) and UNICEF Integrated Budget, 2026–2029 (E/ICEF/2025/AB/L.6). During its First Regular Session, the Board reviews key evaluation reports and management responses, reinforcing its oversight and commitment to evidence-based decision-making.
