Spread kindness, not rumours
A message from the Regional Director on the COVID-19 pandemic
I am reaching out to you during the COVID-19 pandemic – which is affecting all of us everywhere. I hope you, your family and friends are staying healthy during this testing time.
COVID-19 has drastically changed our everyday habits. Physical distancing and frequent handwashing with soap have become the norm.
I know this is not an easy time for you. Information on COVID-19 is everywhere and it can be a challenge to really understand what is happening and be hopeful about what the future holds.
Knowing the facts is key to being properly prepared and protecting yourself and your loved ones. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there - be sure to get your facts from reliable sources, like UNICEF, the World Health Organization and the Government.
"Be kind to yourself" - video
Our Regional Ambassador Siwon Choi said that it is important we spread kindness, and not rumours.
Make sure the information you read and share is from trusted sources. And make sure you look after yourself. Exercise, eat as healthily as possible and make time for yourself. By being kind to yourself, you can give your family and friends the love and kindness they will all need during these difficult times.
My colleagues and I are working across the region with health experts to provide accurate information, as well as getting supplies to those most in need. Do follow us for the latest updates and check our social media channels for the most up-to-date information.
Please help us fight misinformation, so that the people you care about have the facts about COVID-19.
Your support is very important to UNICEF and your help makes our work a reality.
You can count on UNICEF to do our part.
Please do take necessary steps to look after yourself, those around you and be safe: maintain a metre-and-a-half distance from others, washing your hands with soap often, no touching of your face, and coughing into your elbow or tissue.
Stay safe and stay healthy,
Karin Hulshof
Regional Director, UNICEF East Asia & Pacific
