UNICEF Statement of Commitment
The Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty
About
Eliminating poverty and hunger is essential for sustainable development. Under its G20 presidency, Brazil has proposed the establishment of a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty to support and accelerate efforts towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger). Key actions include addressing gaps in social protection coverage and financing as well as expanding policies and programmes to prevent maternal and child malnutrition.
The Alliance will be launched at the G20 Summit in November 2024, with participation from member countries and other stakeholders. With this statement of commitment, UNICEF joins the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, pledging to support its mission, objectives, and principles. UNICEF is dedicated to collaborating with other members to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and hunger worldwide.
