Partnership overview

UNICEF and the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) have a strong and longstanding partnership across regions and thematic areas. The UK’s support for children worldwide focuses on the most vulnerable, including girls, children with disabilities, migrant and displaced children, and children caught in conflict.

In 2024, the UK was the fifth largest public contributor to UNICEF, providing a total of US$413 million in critical support for global programming. The UK Government remained a prime strategic and reliable humanitarian partner to UNICEF, offering US$20 million towards Core Resources – flexible funding to be deployed wherever and whenever the need is greatest – and US$310 million to Other Resources (Emergency) funding. This support helped power UNICEF’s humanitarian operations in Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sudan, Yemen and other countries.

The UK also provided US$82 million of funding for Other Resources (Regular), bolstering UNICEF’s services for children across nutrition, health, education, WASH, child protection and social protection.

As international aid sees one of its sharpest contractions in recent history, the steadfast alliance between UNICEF and the UK Government stands as a commitment to a better world for children. Together, UNICEF and the UK will continue to advance children’s rights and well-being across the globe.
