Norway
UNICEF public sector partner

Norway is a generous and steadfast supporter of UNICEF’s mandate with a focus on the most vulnerable children. In 2021, the Government continued to ensure the sustainability of UNICEF’s education programmes as the top contributor to our Global Thematic Fund for Education, helping UNICEF meet the aspirations and rights of children, especially girls, for high-quality learning.
The Government of Norway is among the largest contributors of voluntary core and thematic funding support to UNICEF.
In the face of the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Norway has been a leading partner for ensuring continuity of learning during school closures, advocating for the prioritization of school re-openings, and getting learning back on track for all children, especially the most marginalized. Among key results in 2021, Norway's generous support to UNICEF's global education programme contributed to 48.6 million children – half of them girls – accessing education.
Norway has a long track record as one of UNICEF’s top ten government partners, leading with high-quality flexible funding. In 2021, Norway was UNICEF’s ninth-largest public sector supporter, with a total contribution of US$224 million. Through high-quality funding, Norway exemplifies the UN Funding Compact commitments.
