MSC Foundation
A UNICEF corporate partner since 2009
MSC supports UNICEF to improve children’s lives in areas such as education, health, and nutrition.
The MSC Group has been supporting UNICEF's work since 2009. The partnership started when MSC Cruises – a global cruise line and subsidiary of the MSC Group – joined UNICEF to launch “Get on Board for Children”. The initiative collected donations from passengers onboard MSC cruise ships and provided information about UNICEF’s work for children. To date, MSC has raised more than €12 million to help UNICEF improve the lives of children around the world.
“We are proud of the fruitful, longstanding journey we have been able to travel on hand-in-hand with MSC,” says Bettina Junker, Executive Director of UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein. “Together, we have achieved great progress for children worldwide. We thank MSC for their continued trust and support.”
In recent years, the MSC Group’s support for UNICEF has extended beyond fundraising. Leveraging MSC’s expertise in logistics, UNICEF benefitted from several in-kind donations concerning ocean freight shipping, facilitating the delivery of essential supplies to children in need.
The creation of the MSC Foundation in 2018 led to continued support to UNICEF. The foundation focuses on areas including environmental protection, community support, education, and emergency relief and has supported UNICEF programmes around the world. Among other programmes, the foundation has helped UNICEF promote education in Brazil, provide lifesaving nutrition in Malawi, Ethiopia, Somalia, and South Sudan, and launch an innovative environmental programme in Cote d’Ivoire.
