What we do

UNICEF’s work in Lebanon

UNICEF has been working in Lebanon for over seven decades, providing life-saving support to children, protecting their rights and helping them achieve their potential.

In recent years, UNICEF has refocused its efforts to support vulnerable children caught up in an unprecedented crisis, as an economic meltdown compounded by the impact of COVID-19 and the 2020 Beirut explosions left families struggling to survive.

UNICEF has also played a significant role in the response to the protracted refugee crisis since the onset of war in Syria in 2011, and – for more than 60 years – in supporting Palestinian refugees.

We work closely with the Government of Lebanon, other UN agencies, international and local NGOs, universities and more than 100 partners to improve the lives of children and their families, irrespective of their nationality or status.
