Vanessa Redgrave, United Kingdom

Vanessa Redgrave’s illustrious acting career includes awards and nominations from the Academy, BAFTA, SAG, Golden Globe, Emmy, Olivier and Tony Awards. In 2010, she received a BAFTA Fellowship and, in 2018, the Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award at the Venice Film Festival. Vanessa has starred in numerous acclaimed international film, theatre and TV productions.

Appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1995, Vanessa has travelled extensively with UNICEF, including to Albania, Brazil, Israel, North Macedonia and the State of Palestine. Most recently, in September 2018, she travelled to Lebanon to meet with displaced and refugee children and their families.

In 2012, Vanessa was awarded the UNICEF Germany Honorary Award for Child Rights for her outstanding work advancing the rights of children.

Vanessa made her directorial debut in 2017 on the documentary Sea Sorrow, which she also co-produced. An impassioned humanitarian film about the refugee crisis in Syria and Europe, Sea Sorrow was well received across international film festivals.
