Jessica Lange
UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Alumna

Actress Jessica Lange became a Goodwill Ambassador in 2003, focusing on two priority issues: HIV/AIDS and immunization.
Jessica embarked on her first UNICEF mission, to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in 2003, where she helped draw attention to children and women affected by conflict by denouncing the systematic use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. There, Jessica met with victims of sexual violence, representatives from women’s organizations, HIV/AIDS peer educators, children who had been recruited by armed forces, health workers, displaced children and families, local government authorities and humanitarian aid partners.
Born and raised in Minnesota, in the United States, Jessica studied acting in Paris and New York. Her big break came after being cast in the 1976 remake of King Kong. In 1981, The Postman Always Rings Twice brought her critical acclaim. Since then, Jessica has demonstrated her talent and versatility on stage as well as on film, winning two Academy Awards – for Best Supporting Actress in Tootsie (1983) and Best Actress in Blue Sky (1995).
