Evaluation of UNICEF’s internal communication and staff engagement
How well does UNICEF use internal communication to inform and engage staff? How can internal communication be improved to better support UNICEF's goals and values?
Effective internal communication and staff engagement are essential for an organization like UNICEF, whose mission to improve the lives of children worldwide relies heavily on a well-coordinated, motivated, and informed workforce.
In recent years, internal communication and staff engagement (ICSE) have been repeatedly identified as important areas for improvement at UNICEF, prompting the organization to take action to strengthen this function. In the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2022-2025, ICSE was recognized as a key organizational enabler and in 2022, a new networked collaboration structure was approved to strengthen ICSE practices across the organization.
To support the development of the ICSE function and accelerate learning from the new approaches to be introduced, UNICEF’s Evaluation Office commissioned an independent evaluation, in collaboration with the organization’s global ICSE team.
