UNICEF must consider opportunities and risks in the use of personal data, including in combination with evolving technologies (e.g. biometrics, artificial intelligence). The protection of this data is essential to upholding fundamental rights to privacy and the UN-system wide personal data protection and privacy principles.
This Policy establishes a framework for implementing these UN principles and governs the processing of personal data by - and on behalf of - UNICEF. The Policy stipulates a risk-based compliance framework for appropriate personal data protection throughout the data life cycle (e.g. collection, storage, analysis, transfer, deletion, or collectively, ‘processing’).
