Learning where it is difficult to learn: Radio programmes help keep children learning in Cameroon

In Northwest and Southwest Cameroon, 54 per cent of children lack access to schools due to insecurity. In response, UNICEF helped develop a non-formal radio in education programme, focusing on literacy, numeracy and life skills and reaching 54,894 out-of-school children (31,875 girls). UNICEF helped train teachers and parents to facilitate children’s participation in small groups of 25. Another key component was providing mental health and psychosocial support to trauma-impacted children.
