About

Female genital mutilation (FGM) remains a critical child protection violation and a form of gender-based violence affecting millions of girls and women worldwide. Frontline practitioners play a vital role in identifying girls at risk, supporting survivors, and connecting them to appropriate services.

This package of practical resources has been developed to strengthen the prevention of and response to FGM within gender-based violence (GBV) and child protection (CP) case management across humanitarian, development, and peace settings. Designed for caseworkers, social workers, supervisors, and other frontline practitioners, the tools provide practical guidance for safe, survivor-centred, and rights-based case management.

The package includes:

  • FGM Case Management Guidance (EN, FR, AR)
  • FGM Safety Plan with Families and Caregivers: Prevention-Focused (EN, FR, AR)
  • FGM Conversation Toolkit for Caseworkers (EN, FR, AR)
  • Facilitator Guide Training Package (EN, FR, AR)
  • PowerPoint Presentation for FGM and Case Management (EN, FR, AR)

Together, these resources aim to strengthen the capacity of frontline workers to prevent FGM, identify and respond to risks, engage safely with girls and families, and ensure timely referral to appropriate services.
