Disability-inclusion – Frontline workers training
Ensuring equitable access to services for every child
Children, young people and adults with disabilities face additional barriers, stigma and discrimination that can prevent them from accessing essential services.
Frontline workers (FLWs) play a crucial role in ensuring all people can access the basic services; however, many have never been trained in providing services for persons with disabilities. UNICEF is committed to increasing the number of countries that train frontline workers on ensuring disability inclusion in their work.
The Disability Inclusion Training Package for Frontline Workers supports this commitment. It aims to build awareness of a human rights-based approach to disability, aligned with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and support frontline workers to identify basic actions that can be taken to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities. The package can be used to develop a basic disability inclusion training programme for frontline workers, or its components can be adapted and integrated within other training that is being planned across the various sectors in which UNICEF engages.
The package includes six modules, each containing a video and facilitator material, six focus briefs and a user guide.
