Biorec is an initiative dedicated to producing orthopedic prostheses from plastics collected from the sea. “Our mission is to tackle marine pollution and the lack of access to quality prostheses for people in vulnerable situations. We believe that every piece of plastic taken from the oceans can be transformed into something valuable and essential, so we collect plastic from the sea and recycle it to create affordable and sustainable orthopedic prostheses. This process contributes to cleaning up the oceans, and offers a practical and economical solution to the need for prostheses in underprivileged communities.”
“Our team comes from the province of Luanda and is made up of specialists in materials engineering, health professionals, and environmentalists. Together, we work to ensure that our prostheses are high quality and effective, using advanced technology to transform plastic waste into functional and durable products.”
Ecohelp is an initiative that arose from the desire of three young people to improve the reality of their communities through sustainability. “Our aim is to empower young people in situations of social vulnerability by teaching them how to make ecological bricks from plastic waste. We bring a practical solution to the lack of housing and the accumulation of waste in our neighborhoods. We are a group of young people from Luanda province who grew up seeing the difficulties faced by our communities, so we believe that with work, innovation, and education, it will be possible to change this reality. We promote income generation and seek to involve and make people aware of the importance of recycling and environmental preservation.”
Gray Star is an initiative that aims to improve the public transport experience by creating an innovative app that tracks buses in real-time. “Our mission is to optimize journeys and make public transport more efficient, accessible, and convenient for everyone. The initiative offers a range of features to improve the user experience, In our app, it is possible to plan routes intuitively, check the location of buses in real-time, and buy tickets online, speeding up boarding and avoiding queues. Delay notifications help keep passengers informed, allowing for more effective planning including accessibility features for people with disabilities, providing a smoother and more inclusive travel experience. The team behind Gray Star comes from Luanda province and is made up of young experts in technology, transportation, and interface design, all dedicated to creating a solution that really meets passengers' needs.”
Mwana is an initiative dedicated to creating a survey and registration system for children with learning disorders. “Our aim is to provide an accurate diagnosis and direct children with possible learning disorders to the best educational and professional opportunities based on their talents and abilities. We use advanced tools to carry out detailed surveys, providing clear and personalized diagnoses. We establish partnerships with educational institutions and future employment opportunities. Our team comes from Luanda province and is made up of experts in psycho-pedagogy, educational technology, and software development. We work in collaboration with educators and health professionals to ensure that the system meets the needs of children and their families, in order to offer the support and opportunities necessary for a promising future.”
Viva Surdo is an initiative dedicated to transforming the lives of deaf men and women by offering interpreted technical courses in areas such as electricity, plumbing, pastry, cooking, decorating, wiring, and air conditioning, among others. “Our mission is to provide deaf people with the tools and knowledge they need to enter the job market and achieve self-employment. We believe that inclusion should be practical and effective, which is why we offer adapted and accessible courses, and support our students with funding and the donation of essential tools so that they can start their own professional activities. Our team comes from Luanda province and is made up of experienced professionals and interpreters committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment, offering personalized support during and after training.”
Viva Surdo seeks to break down barriers and open up paths to autonomy and empowerment for the deaf community. “We want each person who passes through here to leave with the confidence that they can build a better future for themselves and their family, showing the world that deafness is not a limitation, but a characteristic that can coexist with success and professional achievement.”
