BANGKOK, 25 August 2025 – UNICEF Thailand today launched its annual "A Promise Ring" campaign, focusing on providing clean and safe water to children and families living in dire situations. Leading the campaign is the renowned singer and mother of three, Lydia Sarunrat Deane, joined by her children, who are lending their voices to call on public to support children in need.
Water is essential for life, but for millions of children around the world, access to clean water and sanitation remains out of reach. Contaminated water and poor sanitation put children at risk of deadly diseases, malnutrition, and loss of education. Children living in conflict zones, areas of urban poverty and rural areas are especially vulnerable.
"In many parts of the world, children walk long distances to fetch water that may not even be safe to drink," said Lydia. "As a mother, I cannot even imagine my children growing up without something as basic as clean water. That's why I made a promise with this ring to stand with UNICEF. I want to lend my voice and support to help bring positive change for children no matter where they are."
Wearing the campaign's symbolic Promise Ring, Lydia and her children appear in a heartwarming video, inspiring the public to make their own promise by donating and spreading awareness. Funds raised through the campaign will support UNICEF's efforts to provide clean water and sanitation as well as other life-saving supplies and services to children and families in need, especially in the disadvantaged communities across the world.
The Promise Ring carries a powerful meaning. Its design is inspired by the shape of a safety pin used by pregnant women. With both ends of the pin curving inward to form a ring, the ring represents a loving embrace, and a promise to protect children living in difficult circumstances across the world.
"The Promise Ring campaign reminds us that every small action can lead to lasting change," Lydia added. "No matter who or where children are, we can reach out to provide support and make a difference in their lives."
