Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS)

The Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys programme, known as MICS, is the largest source of statistically sound and internationally comparable data on children and women, worldwide. Data collected through MICS helps countries shape better policies and monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. 
 
In Thailand, MICS data has been collected at the national and regional levels as well across selected provinces since 2005. By gaining a full picture of the issues adversely affecting the well-being and development of the most vulnerable children across different regions and provinces, policymakers have been able to better plan for equity-based programmes and interventions, so that no child is left behind. 
 
The National Statistical Office of Thailand (NSO) is now carrying out Thailand 2022 MICS with support from UNICEF. Trained fieldwork teams are conducting face-to-face interviews with over 34,000 households across the country and in remote areas to collect data for over 150 indicators on health, nutrition, education, early childhood development and protection of children and women. The first results from Thailand 2022 MICS are expected in 2023.
