Strengthening Systems and Empowering Communities

Nepal’s successful HPV vaccine introduction

Highlights

Thousands of girls in Nepal are at risk of cervical cancer, which can be prevented through human papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) vaccination. To help protect future generations, the Government of Nepal and UNICEF carried out a nationwide HPV vaccination campaign in 2024–2025, reaching girls in schools and communities across the country. The campaign not only delivered vaccines but also worked with families, teachers and community leaders to build trust and increase awareness about the importance of vaccination.
