About

In this report, UNICEF, WFP and The Standing Together for Nutrition Consortium, describe the impact of recent crises on the key systems - food, health, education, water and sanitation, and social protection - that ensure access to nutritious foods, essential nutrition services, and positive care practices.

Drawing lessons learned from how countries strengthened the capacities of key systems, the report offers policy and programme recommendations to strengthen the nutrition resilience of systems to respond to future crises:

  1. Implement policies and programmes that enable key systems to be adaptive, absorptive, and transformative to respond to future crises.
  2. Increase the capacities of key systems—especially food, health, and social protection—to prevent malnutrition in fragile contexts.
  3. Advocate for predictable and flexible funding for resilient systems.
  4. Engage and empower communities to participate in resilient systems building.
  5. Strengthen information systems to better target vulnerable groups and to measure programme coverage during crises.
