Supported by UNICEF and development partner TaRL Africa, the MoE has piloted AIC, a remedial programme based on Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) methodology, focused on strengthening foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.
During the 2024- 2025 academic year, the pilot ran in Grades 3–5 across 71 schools in seven municipalities in four provinces.
During the pilot, a part of instructional time was reallocated to level based catch-up sessions in Portuguese and Mathematics.
747 teachers and mentors were trained, and 19,540 students were targeted equally distributed across both genders.
