Safe injection equipment (SIE) tentative tender calendar
Bidding opportunities for the procurement of safe injection equipment for immunization activities and in support of emergency response.
About
Tender cycle
UNICEF Supply Division conducts Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for the supply of safe injection equipment (SIE) to establish multiple Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) for direct distribution to UNICEF country programmes or for delivery to UNICEF’s warehouse in Copenhagen.
The next tender is currently planned for Q2 2027, with LTAs expected to cover supply for 2028 and 2029 (two years).
Product Scope
The product range includes the following product categories; auto-disable (AD) syringes, sharps safety boxes (SB), re-use prevention (RUP), disposable syringes, insulin syringes and disposable needles.
UNICEF requests all immunization-related products (AD syringes, RUP syringes and safety boxes) to be WHO PQS prequalified. Suppliers are therefore encouraged to initiate the WHO prequalification process well in advance to ensure their products are eligible at the time of tender submission.
Important information
We recommend suppliers interested in participating in future bidding opportunities, unless already included in the Invitee List, to:
- Express their interest by sending an e-mail to [email protected], with clear reference to products they are interested in, to receive a) an invite to the Industry Consultation taking place ahead of the tender issuance and b) a copy of the tender documents once the tender is issued.
- Visit United Nations Global Market Place (UNGM) website and check how to become a UN vendor. All suppliers interested in doing business with UNICEF must adhere to the UN Supplier Code of Conduct and register in UNGM by creating a vendor profile and submitting their national incorporation license/certificate at the Level 1 stage of vendor registration process on UNGM website.
- Consult UNICEF Technical Requirements for Medical Devices to verify they can meet these requirements.
- Review SIE item specifications in UNICEF Supply and Service Catalogue noting that the item list (see files available for download) is indicative only and is subject to change at the time of tender issuance. Bidders are advised to refer to the final tender documents for the definitive list of items and requirements.
