Highlights
According to recent monitoring of landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) incidents in the first nine months of 2024, a total of 889 casualties have been reported nationwide. This figure already represents 85% of the total casualties reported in 2023, which were 1,052.
Delving into the regional breakdown, Shan State recorded the highest number of casualties, accounting for 25% of the total. Sagaing Region and Rakhine State followed with 17% and 12%, respectively. The remaining regions of the country collectively accounted for 46% of the total casualties.
