Highlights

According to monitoring of landmine and other Explosive Ordnance (EO) incidents during the first three months of 2026, a total of 169 incidents were recorded nationwide, resulting in 253 civilian casualties. This highlights the persistent risk posed by EO contamination in conflict-affected areas.

Shan State recorded the highest number of casualties, accounting for 28 incidents (16.57%) and 49 casualties (19.37%) of the national total. This was followed by Mandalay Region, which reported 28 incidents (16.57%) and 46 casualties (18.18%). Magway Region ranked third, with 28 incidents (16.57%) and 41 casualties (16.21%). The remaining States and Regions collectively accounted for 85 incidents and 117 casualties, representing 46% of total casualties nationwide.

A total of 74 child casualties were reported, representing 29.25% of all casualties across the country. It is important to note that these figures only reflect civilian casualties.
