Highlights
According to monitoring of landmine and other Explosive Ordnance (EO) incidents during the whole year of 2025, a total of 510 incidents were recorded nationwide, resulting in 745 civilian casualties. This figure represents 69% of the total casualties recorded in 2024 (1,082), highlighting the persistent risk posed by EO contamination in conflict-affected areas.
Shan State recorded the highest number of incidents and casualties, accounting for 182 incidents (36%) and 245 casualties (33%) of the national total. This was followed by Rakhine State, which reported 74 incidents (15%) and 117 casualties (16%). Magway Region ranked third, with 58 incidents (11%) and 82 casualties (11%). The remaining States and Regions collectively accounted for approximately 38% of incidents and 40% of total casualties nationwide.
A total of 155 child casualties were reported during 2025, representing 21% of all casualties across the country. All figures represent civilian casualties only, based on information available from humanitarian and monitoring partners.
