Highlights

According to the monitoring of landmine and other Explosive Ordnance (EO) incidents in the first half of 2025 indicates a total of 357 casualties nationwide, comprising 33% of the total casualties reported in 2024 (1,082 cases).

Examining the regional distribution, Shan State experienced the highest impact with 68 incidents and 103 casualties (29%), followed by Rakhine State with 58 incidents and 87 casualties (24%), and Magway Region with 27 incidents and 43 casualties (12%). The remaining States and Regions collectively accounted for 35% of the total casualties.

Children represent 27% of all casualties, underscoring the significant risk of landmines and EO continues to pose to the most vulnerable populations. These figures reflect civilian casualties only.
