This book was originally developed as part of “Development of Big Story Books for Early Literacy in Mother Tongue”. The big story books were written in ethnic languages and translated into Myanmar language. They are to be used to promote love of reading, help develop fluency in a language a child is familiar (mother tongue or first language), and also to support in learning official language “Myanmar” later on. They are available in 90 ethnic languages. They are to be used at home for story reading time by parents and family members and in any early childhood development settings including kindergartens, preschools, mother circles, Sunday schools, children’s wards in hospitals, etc.
In the current situation affected by COVID-19, this book is made available online to be used by more children and families to foster positive relationships through reading books and doing routines together.
Let’s Grow Tree is a story developed by the Anu ethnic language and culture committee. It is about growing trees to prevent deforestation and climate changes. The story makes the child to be aware of the nature, trees and plants, changes of the environment and climate due to cutting trees and plants in their surroundings. Through the story children will be able to learn to grow tree, to love the nature and to protect their environment.
Every family member has ability to help their child become healthy, happy, curious, confident and above all, able to think and express their needs in the language they are most familiar. This book is one tool for you to use in your everyday life to help you and your child – we know you are doing many more wonderful things already.
