Maputo, Mozambique - On 23 and 24 September 2025, UNICEF Mozambique brought together private sector partners in Maputo for a Business for Results workshop that moved from big ideas to concrete next steps on how companies can use their strengths to improve results for children.

Tuesday’s high-level conversation, generously hosted by BCI Bank at the BCI Auditorium, explored how partnerships with the private sector can deliver transformational change for children. Discussions focused on topics including digital learning and how to place children’s rights front and centre within core business decisions, operations, and supply chains.

On Wednesday, teams gathered for a hands-on technical session, seeking to translate high-level ambition into concrete action plans around areas of shared priority. Three teams focused on issues of digital learning and inclusion – scaling up access to quality learning through digital approaches; the ‘learning to earning’ agenda – connecting children and young people to training and employment opportunities; and finance and banking – looking for opportunities to expand access to credit, banking and digital payment services, including within UNICEF’s core programming. By the close of the session, mixed teams had set priority actions for 2025, nominated focal points and agreed on a process to shape partnership roadmaps.

UNICEF warmly thanks all companies that joined and contributed their time and insight – including BCI, TMcel, Vodacom, Movitel, ABSA, MPDC, MPESA, Vodacom Foundation, Exporta MoZ, Millennium BIM, Access Bank, Huawei and CTA – and looks forward to working together on the next steps. In the coming weeks UNICEF and private sector partners will co-develop practical partnership roadmaps, set clear milestones, and coordinate progress toward digital inclusion, responsible business, and stronger pathways to learning and decent work for children in Mozambique.
