Nampula, Mozambique - Argentina Selinho, 25, is a mother of a 9-month-old boy, and she has been playing the crucial role of Multi-Purpose Health Agent (APS) since 2021. Her journey began with training in 2020, where she gained skills to identify cases of malnutrition and other health issues in the community.

Argentina highlights the significant impact on her work since the implementation of the Health Committee. Previously, she operated in isolation and faced difficulties in identifying cases. However, now, thanks to the awareness lectures conducted by the committee, the community is more informed about health and hygiene, making it easier to identify cases.

"Being able to identify more cases at once is rewarding. I see that the community is becoming more aware of how to take care of their health," Argentina notes. The support and collaboration promoted by the Health Committee have significantly strengthened the positive impact on the community’s health practices.

With the support of the Japan Committee for UNICEF and FUJI TV and in partnership with the Government of Mozambique, UNICEF is expanding support for the formation of health committees, aiming to provide basic assistance to populations. This initiative reinforces the commitment to promoting health and well-being, empowering communities for a healthier and more resilient future.
