Mozambique's Flash Update #4 on the evolving humanitarian situation caused by the floods and the on-going response on the ground.
Highlights
The report highlights that:
- UNICEF supported the INGD‑led flood response in Gaza Province, delivering 17,088 health consultations, screening 9,155 children for malnutrition (57 treated for SAM), and assisting 35,000+ children with learning kits, temporary classrooms, and psychosocial support.
- Across education, protection, and WASH, UNICEF reached 61,800+ people with safe water and sanitation, deployed 120+ tons of supplies, provided emergency learning kits to 35,000 children, and delivered MHPSS/GBV services to 3,000+ children through 42 trained social workers and animators.
- The US$330M HRNP Addendum aims to support 215,500 households with cash, food, and hygiene kits, alongside UNICEF’s continued leadership in WASH, Nutrition, Education, and Child Protection coordination.
- Tropical Cyclone Gezani affected over 6,000 people, damaging health facilities, classrooms, and water systems; UNICEF is providing life‑saving multi‑sectoral support, emergency supplies, safe water, child‑friendly spaces, and preparing emergency cash assistance for affected households.
