Adam, a seven years old Syrian child. He was born alongside his twin brother in El-Za’tari camp in Jordan. His twin brother died only when he was four days old due to a congenital heart disease.

Adam's parents brought him to Egypt in fear of his health after he had started showing signs of his late twin's illness.

The second displacement to a new county was a very hard experience on Adam's family, especially with father's war injury that makes finding a stable job even harder.

Adam's family reached out to Caritas Egypt, one of UNICEF’s implementing partners to aid and support refugees in Egypt.

Caritas Egypt responded and transferred Adam to get the medical help he needed. However, Adam still needed further support.

The crisis in Syria led to the existence of more than 153,000 refugees around the world at the end of 2023, as per the UNHCR.

Children face challenges to fulfill their basic needs; like education, health care, and physiological support.

Since the start of the Syrian crisis, UNICEF was one of the first organizations to offer immediate aid to Syrian refugees all over the world. This humanitarian response has extended to Sudanese and Palestinian children following the wars in their countries, with generous support from the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, the European Union, Netherland’s PROSPECTS partnership and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

UNICEF is calling for immediate interventions, cease-fire, and the restoration of security and safety of the children of the world.
