New York–UNICEF Egypt participated in “Every Play for Every Child,” a high-level panel event hosted at UNICEF Headquarters in New York to mark World Football Day. The event showcased the transformative role of football clubs in advancing child rights, children’s development and well-being, while celebrating UNICEF’s growing global partnerships in sport.

The panel brought together representatives from UNICEF’s partner football clubs, the private sector, and international football institutions for dynamic discussions on how the popular game can drive social impact.

Representing Egypt and the MENA region, Mr. Mohamed Abu Okail, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Al Ahly Sporting Club, joined the opening panel titled “Making a Difference with UNICEF’s Football Club Partners”.

Mr. Abu Okail shared insights on the renewed UNICEF x Al Ahly SC partnership, signed in September 2024, which harnesses football’s reach and influence to promote child rights and well-being in Egypt. He emphasized how this collaboration not only inspires children across the country but also offers a replicable model for partnerships throughout the MENA region and Africa.

Al Ahly SC joined global counterparts including Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Wrexham A.F.C., and Inter Miami CF, underscoring football’s power to shape lives, unite communities, and inspire dreams.

This global platform reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment, alongside its football partners, to go beyond the pitch and create a lasting impact, advocating for inclusion, resilience, and opportunity through sport and storytelling.
