UNICEF Malawi is piloting an impact-based flood forecasting and early warning system in Northern Malawi, utilizing aerial imagery collected through drones. During the recent rainy season (January – April 2024), this system accurately predicted multiple flood events, allowing local communities to evacuate and safeguard their livelihoods.
