Accessible Digital Textbooks for All
UNICEF's Accessible Digital Textbooks For All initiative was designed to make learning accessible, affordable, available and personalized for every child.
Highlights
The global learning crisis impacts every child, everywhere. Learning denied, learning delayed, learning disrupted. Children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable. There are nearly 240 million children with disabilities worldwide. They are 49 per cent more likely to have never attended school and 42 per cent less likely to have foundational literacy and numeracy skills compared to their peers without disabilities. Lack of accessible learning materials hinders access and participation in the learning process. Creating an Accessible Digital Textbook (ADT) traditionally takes 6-9 months and costs up to $50,000 per textbook. To address this gap, UNICEF's Accessible Digital Textbooks For All (ADT) initiative was designed to make learning accessible, affordable, available and personalized for every child.
